Mentoring Night - PDPs!

The Movement Science Department is kicking off the Advising period with a Mentoring Night on Monday, October 25, from 7-8pm in the Woodward Student Lounge. Any upperclass students in good standing are eligible to be mentors. And any first year or transfer students are highly encouraged to be a mentee for the evening. Students can expect to learn about creating schedules, online audits and registration, remaining advising questions, Intermediate Standing & much more!

Advising Reminders!

A reminder that IS/AS portfolios are due to your advisor by Monday, October 25. Also, be sure to sign up for an advising session with your advisor. Lists will be posted on the bulletin board in Woodward for your convenience. All first year students are required to go to Peer Advising in the Academic Achievement Office. If you have questions, contact your advisor or the Movement Science Department Office right away.

Irish Sports Science & Culture

Have you considered studying abroad? Here is a chance for Movement Science majors to study with our own Dr. Bill Miller in Ireland. Dr. Miller is offering MOVP 0396, a course titled, Irish Sports Science & Culture. It will be a short term course held in May, 2011. The cost is $3,000 for the 3 credit course. The fee is an estimate which includes tuition, round trip airfare, accomodations, most excursions, some meals and more. This could be an opportunity of a lifetime! MAHPERD Student Summit

MAHPERD will host it's annual Student Summit on Friday, October 1 at noon at Springfield College. All MSSLS majors are encouraged to attend, especially PE concentrations. See the bulleting board by Dr. Rausch's office for sign up information or contact him at rrausch@wsc.ma.edu. 2 Professional PDPs!

Mandator Majors Meeting

There will be a MANDATORY Majors Meeting on Monday, September 13 @ 6:30pm (1st years and transfers) and 7:15pm for upperclassmen/women in Scanlon Banquet Hall. All MSSLS Majors are expected to attend. A wide range of topics will be discussed including the revised MSSLS Manual, upcoming conferences and other events. The MSSLS faculty look forward to seeing you there!

If you are coming to campus for the first time, returning for a senior year or visiting as an alumni, you will notice some exciting changes on campus - including new signs! Westfield State College has just been approved as a university: Westfield State University.
